In 2025, ROHEALTH – The Health and Bioeconomy Cluster celebrates 10 years of activity, marking a decade of impact in the Romanian and European research and innovation landscape. Under the leadership of Flaviana Rotaru, President and co-founder, ROHEALTH has become a driving force for collaboration, bold ideas, and strategic projects in the health and bioeconomy sectors.
From Vision to Impact
Established in 2015 by three founding members – Frontier Management Consulting, ARPS – The Romanian Association for Health Promotion, and Flaviana Rotaru – the cluster has grown organically, now bringing together over 125 members: SMEs, universities, research institutes, hospitals, NGOs, and public authorities.
ROHEALTH is the only Romanian cluster in the field of health and medical sciences to hold the ESCA Gold Label certification, recognizing excellence in cluster management and collaboration.
Strategic and International Projects
Throughout the past decade, ROHEALTH has coordinated and implemented a wide range of high-impact projects, including:
-
NoBoCap – funded through the EU4Health programme, aimed at enhancing the capacity of Notified Bodies and Market Operators under the Medical Devices Regulation.
One of its major achievements was integrating training programmes into the university curriculum at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș. -
MountResilience – a Horizon Europe project supporting mountain communities in adapting to climate change. ROHEALTH is in charge of the Romanian demonstrator in Râu Sadului.
-
ARMS4elderly – a pilot initiative delivering advanced remote medical services for elderly people, implemented in partnership with the Mureș County Clinical Hospital.
These initiatives have brought international recognition and strengthened ROHEALTH’s role as a key player in the European health innovation ecosystem.
A Strong, Interdisciplinary Community
Over the years, ROHEALTH has succeeded in creating a vibrant, interdisciplinary community that fosters dialogue, co-creation, and collaboration. With more than 125 active members, the cluster continues to generate concrete results that address national and international healthcare challenges.
Looking Ahead
As it looks toward the future, ROHEALTH aims to continue developing strategic projects, supporting the internationalisation of its members, and contributing to the modernisation of the healthcare and bioeconomy sectors in Romania and beyond. Through strong partnerships and a commitment to applied research, ROHEALTH will remain a catalyst for innovation, resilience, and progress.
